Ottomare Suites
An invited competition was opened in 2009 to obtain a housing project on a land overlooking the Historical Peninsula and the Marmara Sea, on the coastline connecting Istanbul Ataturk Airport to urban centers.
The Ottomare Suites project, developed on the concept of "residence" and "apart hotel" usage, won the first prize in the invited competition and was implemented as a special project with equipment that will contribute to the urban renewal of its environment. The primary decision in settling the project on the land was to raise the residential floors and evacuate the lower levels to create a 10,000 m2 garden in the densely built area. In the lower elevations, which are shaped in 3 separate layers, there is a 2700 square meter commercial area, open car park and building entrances in the 1st layer; In the 2nd layer, social areas such as recreation areas, indoor and outdoor pools, children's playgrounds, restaurants, lobby, Clubhouse, party area, where the upper cover of commerce is used by afforestation, and in the 3rd layer, an urban terrace where you can spend time with a sea view are designed.
Ottomare Suites has an iconic form reminiscent of a 'lighthouse' from both sea and land. Two separate design requirements provide this formation: the upper height limit and the fact that all units have a sea view. In line with these principles, after the high-rise block, the building settled on the land in a wave motion, was terraced and opened towards the sea, and thanks to the proposed floor gardens, a qualified 'outer' life such as a jacuzzi and natural greenery was included in the 'inner' life of the residences. An opening joinery system was used in the building, which has the prevailing wind behind it, thus integrating the living spaces with the floor garden and providing natural ventilation and energy savings.
